It was a plan gone awry for these trio who tried to shop at a high-profile jewellery store using credit cards. Jewellery and cellphones worth Rs 4.5 lakh were recovered from them.
The three - Nitish Kumar, Sunil Kumar and Sharath - were arrested by Commercial Street police on Tuesday, while the fourth - Srinivas - is said to be absconding. Srinivas was working in a garment factory, said the police.
The trio were arrested following information from store managers of a jewellery store where they were purchasing jewellery. All the three are in the age group of 24 to 28 years and are residents of Hebbal.
During interrogation, the trio said Srinivas used to hand them credit cards and asked them to purchase cellphones and jewellery on his behalf. “We have seized a number of credit cards of HSBC and Axis Bank. We are ascertaining whether they are fake or stolen. Cellphones and jewellery worth Rs 4.5 lakh have also been recovered from them,” police said.
A search is on for Srinivas.
