The bridge had cracked and collapsed during the last rainy season. Hence, the village was cut off from bus and other transport system. Students had to go to school walking all the way. Realising the gravity of the situation, Manjula, director of panchayat raj department has sanctioned Rs 50 lakhs for rebuilding the bridge, said ZP president M B Chikkanarasimhaiah on Wednesday.
Ms Manjula has issued instructions to start the reconstruction work at the earliest. For providing drinking water facility to 21 villages Rs 8 crore has been released. Work will start within a week, said Mr Chikkanarasimhaiah.
Delay
Due to the absence of the chief executive officer, there has been a lot of delay in completing the works. At present the DC is functioning as chief executive officer in-charge. However, due to increased work burden he is not able to pay attention to the affairs of ZP office, said Mr Chikkanarasimhaiah. The Governor has been pressurised to transfer chief executive officer to the ZP as early as possible, he added. ZP assistant secretary Badanur was present.
