Shankranti music festival

Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira in collaboration with Neelambari presents Shankranti music festival from January 6 to 13.

The festival will be held daily during the 8 day festival at 5:30 pm at Shri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira Concert Hall, 9th Main Road, Banashankari 2nd Stage.

The festival will be innaugurated on January by Dr Gowri Kuppuswamy, a senior musician. This will be followed by a vocal duet by the Rudrapatanam Brothers. On January 7, Nisha Rajagopal will present a vocal performance and on January 8 there will be a vocal concert by Dilip Simha. On January 9, N Rajkamal will give a flute concert and there will be vocal music concerts by Jayanthi Rangarajan, Chitra Srikrishna, Kum.Amrutha Venkatesh and K.N.Ranganathan Sharma from Kerala from January 10 to 13.

Group show of 12 artists

Twelve talented contemporary artists from Bengal will be exhibiting their works for the first time in Bangalore starting January 9 at Gallery Karma, Koramangala.

This will be their first exhibition together in Bangalore.

The show curated by Akumal Ramachander, will feature works by Subrata Sen, Swapan Saha, Pradip Das, Saikat Maitry, Rajib Bhattacharjee, Sudipta Tweari, Dhiren Sashmal, Arunava Mondal, diptish Ghoshdastidar, Sujit Ghosh, Sudhangshu Bandopadhyay.

"These artists have been selected after a painstaking search among over 200 artists and we have narrowed down to these 12 artists who we feel represent the best of contemporary art in India" says Akumal Ramachancder.

"I have personally made 19 trips to Kolkata from Bangalore in the last one year to ensure that we have been able to meet every possible artist with potential and hence are confident of the quality of the works" he adds.
The unique aspect of this show is that all the artists are from Bengal and the paintings are priced Rs 5,000 upwards making it affordable to a large section of people. These artists have what it takes to make it big in the world of art and their unique style and craftmanship will definitely be appreciated by the people at large, adds Akumal.

The show will be held between January 9 to 15 at No 384, 16th Main, 2 cross, 3rd Block, Koramangala, Bangalore. The show is being  hosted by Gallery Karma. (Call: 93422 06000).

Art exhibition

“Ganesha”, an exhibition of recent paintings by Sreekar is being inaugurated on January 3 at Ethos Art Gallery, 296-B, 9th A Main, 38th Cross, 5th Block, Jayanagar at 5.30 pm.

Legislative Council Chairman B K Chandrashekar will inaugurate the exhibition at 5.30 pm. The exhibition is on till January 6.
