India observing developments in Pak with concern: Antony
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 2 (PTI)
The defence minister said India wanted restoration of normalcy in the neighbouring country.

The defence minister said India wanted restoration of normalcy in the neighbouring country.

India was keenly watching the developments in Pakistan in the aftermath of Benazir Bhutto's assassination with concern and hope that normalcy is restored in that country at the earliest, Defence Minister A K Antony said today.

"We have nothing to say about the internal matters of Pakistan at a time when many a problem with them were being resolved through talks," Antony said on the sidelines of a book release function here.

Violence anywhere would be put down with a strong hand, he said.

''India and Pakistan are now engaged in discussions on several

issues. As such India wants normalcy to be restored in Pakistan at

the earliest,'' he told newspersons here.

Mr Antony made it clear that he was not commenting on the

internal politics of Pakistan.

On increased terrorist activities, Mr Antony said the Centre was

giving internal security the same importance as external security and

all steps were being taken to wipe out the menace, he said.
