The Central Board of Direct Taxes, New Delhi has extended the deadline to refile the returns of income to February 29, 2008.
The extension has been made to benefit taxpayers who had filed their returns for 2007-08 in the old form 2D/2E.
For 2007-08, the CBDT had notified new forms in the ITR Series 1 to 8 with effect from May 14, 2007. Returns filed in the old forms will be invalid, CBDT said.
Assessees who refile before the fresh deadline will not be liable to pay any interest or penalty.
