For the fifth year in a row, the Centre for Gandhian Studies has brought out a special calendar depicting the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi.
Launching the calendar, BU Vice-Chancellor H A Ranganath on Wednesday said the calendar has been brought out as a reminder that Gandhian values are eternal.
The photographs depicted in each month are rare black and white ones depicting the Mahatma in very unusual moods.
Landmarks
In addition, landmarks in Gandhiji’s life are highlighted. These limited edition copies are not for sale but for private circulation.
Centre Director Jeevan Kumar said other programme taken up include a post-graduate diploma course in Gandhian Studies with an intake of 21 students. The Centre also plans to take up a project to clean the Vrishabhavati stream flowing in the Jnana Bharathi campus. Details of the project are yet to be worked out, Dr Kumar said.
BU calendar
Meanwhile, BU annual calendar this year has colour photographs of the flora found in the Jnana Bharati campus. Dr Ranganath reiterated that BU convocation will be held on January 19 and former President APJ Abdul Kalam will be the chief guest.
