The Education Department has amended the Cadre and Recruitment (C&R) for pre-university lecturers. This was notified on December 26, 2007.
As per the amendment, competitive exams should be conducted for recruitment of lecturers. The exam will comprise two papers - an optional paper and a Kannada paper.
The kannada paper, for 150 marks, will be held for three hours for 150 marks. The paper will be based on first language Kannada from the SSLC syllabus. The exam will be conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
Any objections regarding the notification can can be sent to the PU department within 15 days from the date of notification.
On July 5, 2007, the KPSC issued a notification regarding the appointment of 1,673 lecturers. This was met by opposition from the non-semester students. As a result, Former Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti stayed the recruitment.
After the given date for the objection, the recruitment process will continue.
