The Central Election Commission is said to have expressed dissatisfaction over electoral roll revision being done in the State. R Bhattacharya, deputy election commissioner, representing the CEC, held a meeting with senior officers of Election Commission here on Wednesday. He asked officers to complete revision at the earliest and publish the final list of voters on January 10. Sources said Mr Bhattacharya directed officers to visit houses and verify the electoral rolls.
He also asked the state-level authorities to expedite the process of revision to ensure a discrepancy-free list of voters.
The meeting took stock of the progress made in the revision work in all four divisions of the State. While the revised voters’ list is almost ready with respect to Belgaum and Gulbarga divisions, the work is still on for Bangalore and Mysore divisions. The CEC will finalise the poll date in the State after the revision exercise is over, sources said.
Elections are expected to be held towards April-end.
