The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has served a notice on pharmaceutical giant Biocon’s Jigani unit for allegedly causing air pollution.
Since serving notice on December 7, 2007, the company is said to have drastically cut down its production.
According to KSPCB Chairman Dr Sharath Chandra, the action against the Jigani unit of Biocon was necessitated by the air pollution caused by it. Burning of some substance in the factory was causing problems to the people.
