In depth study is indispensable while documenting history, said eminent neurologist, KMC former dean Dr K R Shetty. Writing history is a difficult job, which is should be done on objective basis, he said.
He was speaking after releasing ‘Tulunadina Muslimaru’, authored by Dr Vahab Doddamane at Town Hall in the City on Thursday. The book contains the evolution of Muslims in Dakshina Kannada, Kasaragod and Udupi till 1947.
Former minister B A Moideen presided over the function. Bearys Welfare Association President B M Farooq, former minister B Ramanath Rai, Thumbe Education Trust President B Ahammed Haji Moideen, DK Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, former MLA U T Khader among others were present.
Narrating on the newly released book, Mr B A Mohammed Haneef said Dr Vahab had published a book in English ‘Muslim in Dakshina Kannada’ in 1993 and the present work was the enlarged and revised edition. Scholars Prof Vasantha Madhava, Dr C P Habeeb Rehaman, Dr U P Upadhyaya, Susheela Upadhyaya, Dr Amritha Someshwara were felicitated for their assistance in completing the work.
