Three community portals have been launched for Bangalore region recently. Swami’s Bengaluru is a platform for all City goers to interact; City Find Bengaluru is a local search engine for Bangalore and Books Kannada is a Kannada books shopping portal.
This is a venture of Yulop Websense Solutions headed by its CEO and Executive Director Sridhar G who is a web evangelist and brings innovation to a new spectrum along with his expertise in building web products.
Yulop’s books portal (books.yulop.com) has been launched in association with IBH Prakashana which is an exclusive portal dedicated to regional languages which is focussed on Kannada for now and will later be tsken to other languages. The book portal contains more than 3000 Kannada books from almost all publishers and authors in Kannada.The portal also has various other features like news about newly released books, user ratings and reviews and users can also write opinions about the books. The books will be delivered to users anywhere in the world.
The aim of the Books Kannada portal is to promote Kannada literature and spread awareness of Kannada literature amognst internet users. This portal is also an effort to make Kannada books available at the finger tips of all Kannada literature lovers throughout the world. The portal also pays tributes to the seven Jnanapeeta Award laureates in Kannada literature.
The second portal, CityFind (www.cityfind.yulop.com) is a local search engine that provides its users a platform to review, rate and suggest local businesses and services, thereby promoting user engagement with their localities and enriching the local information for the community.
CityFind lets the users add listings of their choice and even list their own businesses for free. The portal provides a wide range of listings ranging from street side chaat shops to educational institutions, hospitals, plumbers, public utility services and much much more. Yulop is also providing a WAP site for GPRS enabled mobile users. Mobile users can search for a particular listing in the locality of their choice and also save the contact information directly to their cell phones.
Yulop is also providing a portal called Swami’s Bangaluru (www.bengaluru.yulop.com) which gives comprehensive information about Bangalore and provides a platform for Bangaloreans to express their views and opinions with fellow Bangaloreans.
CityEvents is a online events directory which gives a detailed listing of all the events in and around the city which is another unique offering of Yulop.
Internet users can also post articles and news about their community in the section called CityReporter which also allows users to voice their opinions about issues and happenings in and around their community.
