CM in reel life
Last year saw President’s Rule being imposed twice in Karnataka, in the process dashing the hopes of many aspirants to the Seat of Power. In the case of former Home minister M P Prakash, the disappointment was acute, for neither was he able to ‘strengthen’ his party nor was he allowed to act in Kavitha Lankesh’s Avva.
Perhaps to assuage his feelings, the veteran politician has been offered a dream role to play the Chief Minister himself!
Prakash will be playing the CM in Tejaswini, a new film based on the ‘life and achievements’ of Kanakapura MP Tejaswini Sriramesh, who recently changed her name to Tejaswini Gowda. The film speaks of Tejaswini as a student activist, a journalist, host of popular show Mukhamukhi and a politician.
In the film, Tejaswini finally realises her ambition of becoming the first woman chief minister, taking over from Chief Minister M P Prakash. Hope Prakash gets the needed motivation with this film. Meanwhile, actor Ramesh Arvind plays the MP’s husband.
Aye for A
Most of the filmmakers try their best to avoid an ‘A’ certification for their films, even if the content in them will be screaming otherwise.
But one director is actually pleased to get the A certificate. Her Avva, based on P Lankesh’s Mussanjeya Katha Prasanga is complete and the Censor Board issued an A certificate for the same as the film contains some ‘colourful’ language used by the rural populace as well as a couple of kissing scenes.
But Kavitha is unfazed as she wanted to do complete justice to her father’s novel. This is one film, the audience will enjoy, without the luxury of squirming in the seats for the vulgar content, it appears!!
Mall for the film mill
Speaking of Ramesh, the actor has tied up with Gopalan Enterprises, whose Gopalan Mall is the first Mall from the corporate entity to associate with the industry. Ramesh’s Accident team assembled at the now well known Mall on Mysore Road to share details about the film.
According to Ramesh, apart from the blood and gore associated with the title, the film has lots of beautiful things to offer, thanks to cameraman G S Bhaskar. Continuing, the actor sought to insert an element of curiosity by stating that the discovery of the telephone, pencillin were all accidents; so was his directing this film!
Ramesh has also made use of several Kannada talents in the film. And the industry will be getting another music director by the name of Ricky Kej, who has so far composed music to several jingles. For producer Raghunath, the making of this film was accidental.
Raghunath, who wanted to make a romantic film at first, stumbled upon this story while holding discussions with Ramesh. With both producer and director having such ‘accidents,’ one hopes that any future accidents will not be disastrous!
Actress Pooja Gandhi, though was least perturbed by all this talk of accidents. Instead, she was impatient to try out the games on offer at the Mall. An amused Ramesh willingly obliged her. Check the picture.
