Storytelling for children
EasyLib.com, the online library is hosting a storytelling session for children between 3 and 7 years of age on January 5 from 3 pm to 4 pm. Neeta from Kathalaya will be using colourful props to narrate the story 'A Bag of treasures' - written by eight year old Devaki Deshmukh. Neeta will also be reading aloud from the book 'Rabbit's Re-union' from Winnie The Pooh.
For the craft activity, children will be making a treasure bag. Please bring along crayons, glue stick, and a pair of scissors.
On the same day from 4 pm to 5 pm, for mature readers, the library is hosting a discussion session on the topic 'Buddhism and Vedantic Hinduism'. The session explores through examples how differences in underlying theories of knowledge lead to different religious philosophies.

Book launch
Crossword is launching “The puffin book of Magical Indian myths” by Anita Nair on January 9 at 6.30 pm at Yavanika, Directorate of Youth Service and Sports, State Youth Centre, Nrupatunga Road. The launch will be followed by a dance-based performance by Preeti Sunderajan of Shiri Dance Company and a reading by the author.
History seminar today
The Southern Regional Centre of Indian Council of Historical Research is organising a four-day international seminar in “Identity, Emotion and Culture: Languages and literature of the Sub-continent AD 900-1971.” The seminar will be inaugurated on January 4 at 11 am by Prof U R Ananthamurthy at ICHR, Southern Regional Centre, Law College premises, No 1, Palace Road (near Mysore Bank Circle).
A galaxy of historians are expected to participate and speak at the seminar including Prof Rajat Kanta Ray (Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan), Prof S Settar (NIAS), Prof Sugata Bose (Harvard University, Cambridge), Dr Chitralekha Zutshi (College of William and Mary, Williamsburg), Prof Atluri Murali (University of Hyderabad), Prof S Chandrashekar (Bangalore University), Prof Vijaya Ramaswamy (JNU), Dr Sebastian Joseph (Mysore University), Prof Kesavan Veluthat (Mangalore University), Dr V Gangatharan (BHU, Varanasi).
