The article "Urged on by genes" written by Mr Sachitanand is a little offensive, lacks overall understanding and is not in good taste. I fully agree that passing urine is a very bad habit among our men. But, that does not mean that an article is written that is offensive.
The author indirectly says that Indian men are like dogs and tries to justify it by speaking about some common gene strands. This is derogatory to Indian men. The author needs to take into account the following: 1. Our lack of culture/ civic sense and that includes spitting, passing urine anywhere, talking loudly on the mobile phone, honking etc. They all come under the same category. 2. Lack of proper education and manners. 3. Lack of public toilets at convenient locations. 4. The false feeling of linking that to manhood.
I would like to bring it to the notice of both the Editor and Mr Sachitanand that even women and children urinate in public places but only when there is nobody around and at night. It goes to show that we Indians are lacking in civic sense and culture of cleanliness.
Hence to say that men and dogs have a common gene strand is highly offensive and I wonder how your esteemed newspaper allowed such a derogatory article to be published. This is a violation of the code.
