Indian team management decides not to protest against umpiring
Sydney, dhns:
Having deliberated long and hard, the Indian team management has decided not to lodge a formal complaint against the quality of umpiring on day one of the second Test against Australia at the SCG.

India were thrice at the wrong end of decisions — from umpires Mark Benson and Steve Bucknor as well as third umpire Bruce Oxenford, with Andrew Symonds the principal beneficiary — that could decide the course of the game. An official protest had been contemplated before the Indians chose against it, though the team is extremely disappointed that some of the umpiring decisions could have an impact on the outcome of the match.

Meanwhile, media manager Dr M V Sridhar said injured paceman Zaheer Khan would be returning home on Friday. "There has been an aggravation of an old heel injury. The doctor has said it will take him between four and six weeks to recover fully. He is leaving tomorrow, and his replacement VRV Singh will arrive here on Saturday," the former Hyderabad captain said.
