US India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) has embarked on their fifth annual delegation visit to India.
The 19 member business delegation, which arrived in Bangalore on Wednesday, is headed by USINPAC Founder & Chairman Sanjay Puri. The delegation comprises of Indian-American CEOs and entrepreneurs from IT, medicine, aviation and pharmaceutical sectors.
This is the delegation’s first visit to Bangalore. The delegation has already met some of the prominent business leaders of Bangalore including Biocon’s Managing Director Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Infosys’ Chief Mentor Narayan Murthy and Mphasis Chairman Jerry Rao.
In the second leg of its visit, the delegates would be visiting New Delhi from January 7, 2007 to meet the political leaders including Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath, Minister of Chemicals Ramvilas Paswan, BJP President Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh. The visit to New Delhi would immediately be followed by the 6th annual Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas.
The theme for Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas, 2008, is ‘Encaging the diaspora: the way ahead.’ USINPAC is recognised as the second most ethnic organisation in the United States. The Washington based organisation provides bipartisan support to candidates for federal, state and local office who support the issues that are important to the Indian-American community.
