Branded: For her
Branded clothes for women have arrived and how. All brands worth their names already have or are coming up with lines for the working women of today. Bindu Gopal Rao checks out whats in store this season.

Wrangler recently launched a new brand for young women called "Wrangler girl" where the fits, fabrics and styles have been refined to suit the young women consumers' tastes.

The company has roped in newcomer Jiah Khan as the first ever Wrangler girl brand ambassador to reflect the spirited, spunky, yet feminine character of the brand.

“Wrangler has been traditionally very strong in the menswear segment and was perceived as predominantly a men's brand. The share of women’s' business in our portfolio was only 3 percent, about 5 years back. Over the last few years, the focus has been on the women's line and this share has gone up to more than 15 percent. It was then that we felt a need to address this rapidly growing segment with a unique brand proposition that appeals to them, while retaining the essence of Wrangler.

Hence this brand was launched as a separate sub-brand in India,” explains Janani Subramanian, Business Head - Wrangler, VF Arvind Brands Limited.

The Mango Autumn collection launched in August this year has clothes designed for the modern independent urban woman who has an understanding in fashion. The different lines of clothing, including casual and also more evening styles are designed to be able to dress women for all occasions.

“The demand recognized is the need of clothing which is feminine, trendy and modern at a reasonable price and very good quality, and the variety of lines permits clients to find the perfect outfit for any occasion or time of day,” says Suresh D Bhatia, Country Head & Director, Major Brands (India) Pvt. Ltd.

Globus’ young collection dazzles with colours from the bold to earthy, novel silhouettes and cuts and myriad textures and prints. Globus Design Hub has introduced colours that are part of the global fashion forecast for the season, in a palette of dusky pinks, chocolate browns, wine, reds and blacks.

The fabric innovations with broken twills, micro textures and big prints create a splash on the otherwise predictable fashion scene. “Globus is witnessing young customers spending more on high priced garments.

Also there is a very noticeable trend of serious fashion buyers visiting Globus thus giving us higher conversions.

Interestingly, as compared to the last festive season, the dominant category in Globus’s fashion offerings this year is not Ethnics/Indianwear but it has been Globus’s Western wear collection,” says Vinay Nadkarni, CEO, Globus Stores Pvt. Ltd. Scullers Women’s wear is premium and stylish, while being comfortable at the same time.

It’s geared towards women who have a unique style and are comfortable with themselves. This line is for those who are looking for a smart and easy expression of their style. The collections comprises  premium trousers, shirts, knits, light jackets, skirts and capris.

“When Scullers Women’s Wear was launched, it was around the time when women had started working a lot more in India than before. There was an immense gap in the market with regards to women’s western formal wear – Scullers was the first to fill this gap,” explains Kanwalpreet Walia, Marketing Manager. Scullers women’s wear has been a huge hit. Sales have grown at a rate of approximately 20 percent per year since the launch.

Bright colours

Ginger by Lifestyle epitomizes trendiness in its perfect sense. “The collection ‘Kamikaze’ depicts fun with bright colours, geometric illusions and catchy slogans. The highlight of this range of bright casuals is graphiti prints in contrasting colours,” says Shankar Suryanarayan, VP Marketing, Lifestyle (I) Pvt. Ltd.

The range includes tapered fits, short skits, long tunics and striped leggings. The Wills Lifestyle range is a complete fashion wardrobe comprising - Wills Classic formal wear, Wills Sport relaxed wear, Wills Club life, eveningwear and fashion accessories for women. Detailing with special finishes is the key element of emphasis in high fashion design labels across the global ramps. Right from the customised buttons to broad collars to contrast cuffs, apparel has been crafted to stylish perfection.

Urban Yoga has two ranges called Body and Soul. The Body collection includes cross back and racer back singlets, capri pants with shifted seams, ribbed vests, and kimono cut tops.

It is a collection for fitness freaks. The Soul range is geared more towards those into meditation; it includes kimono cowl neck tops, tunics with attached scarves and kurtas.
