Fans of Chak De! India are in for a treat. Director Shimit Amin is coming on January 8, to speak at a film and television seminar organised by Commits, a city media college.
Joining Shimit Amin on the stage at 'Flickers 2008' will be Anurag Kashyap, director of Black Friday and No Smoking. Rohit Vaid, the chief creative officer of Contiloe Films, a Mumbai production house, is the other main speaker at the event's morning session.
The post-lunch session will feature four Commits alumni: Gaurav Momaya, the assistant director of Dhamaal; Faye D'Souza and Deep Pal, principal correspondents and anchors of CNBC; and Prema Sridevi, the Kerala bureau chief of Times Now.
In addition to the high profile filmmakers and journalists, Elvira Britto, who was the captain of the Indian women's hockey team that inspired Chak De!, will be a special guest at the seminar. Chak De!, one of the most successful films of 2007, has captivated adults and youngsters alike and has also become the subject of case studies in many management colleges in India and abroad.
Flickers 2008 is expected to attract not only film buffs and Chak De! fans but also students who aspire to be filmmakers, journalists, and television producers.
