Pulse polio drive from today
The BBMP has made arrangements for the ‘Pulse Polio’ vaccination programme to be held from January 6 to 9.
Commissioner Dr S Subramanya  has stated in a press release, that the Palike, in association with Rotary International and Swayam Seva Sangh will conduct the programme from 8 am to 5 pm for children below five years.
Special camps to administer the vaccine have been set-up at Railway, Bus Terminals and the City Airport. About 170 mobile vans and 2024 camps will administer the vaccine, says the BBMP.
He said that 9,000 volunteers will visit houses to create awareness on the programme.

BBMP pockets Rs 46 cr revenue through ads
The BBMP has received a record revenue of Rs 46 crore collected through advertisements. A release from BBMP commissioner Dr S Subramanya has stated that it had a target of Rs 30 crores for 2007-08 as revenue collection from hoardings/billboards.
Much of the revenue has been generated from roads/streets in theCentral Business Districts including M G Road, Brigade Road and Commercial Street through electronic display systems (Light Emitting Diode) after tenders were called for a period of three years. Revenue has also been generated from display boards at bus-stops.

Govt official in Lokayukta net
The Lokayukta police on Saturday trapped a government official in Bangalore while accepting bribe.
Vasudeva Rao, revenue inspector, BBMP, Kengeri was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 400 from S S Girish of Kengeri for issuing a domicile certificate for his brothers Madhu and Shiva Tejaswi.
This is the second trap within a week’s time in which a BBMP official has been caught while accepting graft. On December 28, Babu, revenue inspector, Kengeri was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500.

Communicator of the Decade award
Mr M B Jayaram, General Manager (Corporate Communications) of KPCL, has been awarded the prestigious “Communicator of the Decade” award by the Association of Business Communicators in India, Mumbai. He is the first Kannadiga to receive the award.

Health camp for slum dwellers today
Suvarnayuga party has organised a free health check-up camp for slum dwellers in Ejipura on Sunday at 10 am. 
The party chief Mahima Patel told reporters in Bangalore on Saturday that more than 50 doctors from Victoria, Sagar Apollo and Vaidehi Institute of Medical Sciences will conduct the camp.
