Congress has been receiving overwhelming support to its campaigns throughout the State. Hence the party will emerge victorious with clear majority in the forthcoming Assembly elections, said Congress leader and former deputy chief minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking to reporters on his way to a party workers convention here on Saturday, he said the State would achieve all round development if Congress came to power. The campaigns of Congress are aimed at enlightening the public regarding the 20-month-long incapable and anti-people administration of BJP-JD(S) coalition in the State. BJP is in the illusion of being in power, but the Gujarath formula will not work in Karnataka. It is difficult for them to secure at least 50-60 seats, he said. BJP could secure additional seats because of the influence of S Bangarappa, he added. Because of the corruption and mudslinging of the leaders of BJP and Congress, the people of the State are forced to face another election, he criticised.
Answering a question, he said if M P Prakash, who has come out of JD(S), agrees with the ideologies of Congress, he (Siddaramaiah) would welcome him (Prakash) to the party.
