Consumers should progress economically by making good use of the facilities being provided by the bank. And by repaying the loans on time, the consumers should also contribute to the progress of the bank, said Progressive Grameen Bank regional manager Hiremath.
Inaugurating the Consumers’ Day programme organised by the bank, he said that there should be a cordial relationship between the bank and the consumer. If the consumers repay their loans on time, then the money can be utilised to help other people who need it, and thus help achieve economic progress, he added.
Development
Manager of the local unit, Pragathi Grameen Bank, Manjunath said that when the bank was established, it had a sum of Rs 12 lakh in its account. But by now, a sum of nearly Rs 21 crore has been lent out.
The contribution of good consumers towards this end has been immense, he stated.
Banks have an great role to play in the development of the nation by providing credit to all sections and sectors of the society.
Poverty can be eliminated only when banks are oriented towards the society, and when consumers use the loans taken from the banks for developmental activities, said taluk tahsildar Mallikarjun, who presided over the programme.
