He said — Dream, dream, dream, realise the dreams for the development of the nation. And they gave wings to the dream. A group of children, under the banner of Raga Tharanga, a cultural organisation in Mangalore, has been successful in presenting former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam’s Vision 2020 in the form of dance and drama.
Speaking at the inauguration and first performance of the package at Mangala Jyothi Integrated School in Vamanjoor, Raga Tharanga President Dr D Devaraj said that the programme, formulated based on the ideas put forward by Dr Kalam in his three books, The wings of fire, Ignited minds and Vision 2020, has been organised on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of Raga tharanga. The programme will be staged all over Karnataka in the coming days, he added.
The various ideas of Dr Kalam were at first presented in the form of group songs, dances and short skits. Later the play ‘Nanu Vignaniyaguve’, directed by Jagan Powar was also staged. A pledge was administered for the students and those interested at the end of the dance programme.
Earlier, Karnataka Bank General Manager Gopalakrishna Bhat inaugurated the programme. Automatrix Director D Rajendra Kumar presided. Congress leader Ivan D’Souza, Dr Anita Ravishankar from Mangalore University Department of Sociology, Raga Tharanga Founder President Prakash Shenoy, Mangala Jyothi School Head Master Ashok Kumar Shetty and others were present.
