If it is youth power that you want to witness, ‘Cul-ah,’ Mount Carmel College’s annual cultural fest, is where you should be. The fest, which comes with the ‘Carnival’ theme aims at gauging the political awareness among the students.

“We recently conducted a survey involving Bangalore college students. While many expressed the desire to vote, they did say that procuring  a voter’s ID was a cumbersome process. This  shouldn’t be the case especially when participation of youth in politics is being stressed on. So we are inviting students through the fest to let us know why they don’t want to vote,” say Radhika Migloni and Sharanya, students of the college.

Participants will be asked to write why they don’t want to vote and the same will be conveyed to officials concerned. The Election Commission will also be approached with regard to making acquiring voter IDs an  easier process, they add. 

The fest will also include a panel discussion on ‘Save the girl child’. The likes of Ashwini Nachappa, Vani Ganapathy and Mahesh Joshi of Doordarshan will participate. ‘Cul-ah’ will be held from January 10-12 at the college. Several stalls will be put up as a part of the cultural fiesta.
