5 chosen for awards
The India Development Foundation has identified following candidates for ‘Desa Snehi’ 2007 awards for dedicated work in their chosen vocations. The award, to be presented on January 20, carries a citation and Rs 10,000 in cash. The awardees are: R S Rajaram, managing director, Navakarnataka Publications, Bangalore; Dr R Padmini, trustee, Child Rights Trust, Bangalore; Dr G N S Reddy, chief coordinator, BAIF Institute for Rural Development, Tiptur; Ms Sugatha Kumari, poet, Thiruvananthapuram; and Kishan Goradia, voters’ education activist, Mumbai
Crafts expo on
Arts and crafts from across the country are on show at Cottage Mela, the annual Sankranti Utsav organised by Central Cottage Industries Emporium at Safina Plaza. It will go on till January 20. The mela, inaugurated by artist Ravikumar Kashi, will feature 50 national and State craftsmen.
Talk on Psychotherapy
The Sampurna Montfort College, in association with the Bangalore University and University of Toronto, has organised an international conference on ‘Building Bridges through Counselling and Psychotherapy’ from January 9 to 11 in the City.
Dr Matthew Panathanath, the Founder Director of the college said the conference will see the participation of international speakers. ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award will be conferred on former VC of Bangalore University Dr M S Thimmappa for his contribution to Psychology,” he said.
