Applications invited
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy has invited applications for the aspirants of the award for the year 2007. Those who have made remarkable contributions to the field of Konkani language/literature, drama/music and Konkani folk art may send details regarding the person. The details regarding the contributions along with authentic proof must be sent to the Academy in person or through post. Those who wish to suggest anyone else’s name for the award can also do so. The details must be sent to Registrar, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, MCC building, Lalbagh, Mangalore- 575003 within January 19. For more details contact 0824-2453167, stated a press release.
National award for Agnesians
Two NSS volunteers of St Agnes College in Mangalore, Manjusha Hebbar and Hardika Shetty have been chosen for the the national-level Indira Gandhi Award of the Government of India. This is the highest award conferred to NSS volunteers at the national level and 2 volunteers of the same college being selected for this award in the same year is a historical event. Both of them have represented Karnataka in the Republic Day parade in Delhi and have won many prizes at the University/ Inter university level. The awards will be conferred at the National Youth Convention to be held in Chennai on January 16, the release said.
