Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Mayawati on Monday charged the Congress leaders with a conspiracy to “eliminate” her and threatened to reconsider the BSP support to the UPA government at the Centre. Levelling a spate of serious charges against the Congress-led government, she said intelligence feedback from the state government and the Centre suggest “a conspiracy to kill her.”
“If something untoward happens, the Congress will be responsible,” she said and warned of “Dalit wrath” against the Congress party. She added that a UP mafia Atiq Ahmed, allegedly involved in the murder of a BSP MLA, wanted to kill her. She said Ahmed has been given protection by some Congress leaders.
A decision on withdrawing support to the UPA at the Centre would be taken after January 15, her birth day, she said. But, she refused to divulge details on the nature of threats to her. “My state intelligence is not weak,” the chief minister added. She said the SPG cover sought by her government was also not extended to her. She accused the Congress of following the foot steps of the BJP by attempting “to trap her in a fake tax case”.
She also referred to the Taj corridor case and accused the Congress of using it “to politically pressurise her”.
She lashed out at Congress chief spokesman for blaming her party for the poll reverses of the Congress in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
