Baroda claw back

After conceding a 72-run first innings lead, Baroda, guided by R Solankis patient 96 and Yousuf Pathan came back in style against Delhi on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Super League semifinal here on Monday.

 After conceding a 72-run first innings lead, Baroda, guided by R Solanki’s patient 96 and Yousuf Pathan came back in style against Delhi on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Super League semifinal here on Monday.
Baroda at stumps were 281 for six holding an over-all lead of 209 over Delhi with four second innings’ wickets still in hand. At crease were Yousuf Pathan on 86 and accompanying him was Rajesh Pawar on two. Resuming at their overnight score of eight for no loss, Baroda lost both the openers cheaply and were tottering at twelve for two.
Solanki walked in with his team in a spot of bother and palyed a gritty innings to bail out his team from trouble. He added 79 runs for the fourth wicket with S Gaekwad, who scored 46 runs, before the latter was caught by Parvinder Awana of his own bowling. Pathan walked in at 160 for five and took the attack to the oppossition with his familiar hard-hitting strokes. His unbeaten innings of 86 came of just 61 balls and was studded with 13 fours and three well-timed sixes.
Solanki and Pathan shared 118 runs for the sixth-wicket stand and took the team’s score past 250. Solanki’s 229-ball knock ended after he was trapped leg before the wicket by Rajat Bhatia.  For Delhi, Parvinder Awana claimed three wickets while Rajat Bhatia struck twice in his seven overs.
