METRO RAIL
CMH Road widening from today
DH News Service ,Bangalore:
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) will begin road/footpath widening works on the busy CMH Road from Wednesday.

Final round talks with the traders association and the Assistant Commissioner of Police (East Division) was held on Tuesday.

V Madhu, MD, BMRC said contractors would begin footpath widening of 0.5 mts on either side of the CMH Road in Indiranagar from the Double Road stretch to S V Road curve in Ulsoor.

Clearance obtained
“To begin with the footpath would be widened for construction of concrete rainwater ducts. There will be absolutely no inconvenience to private property/business establishments. Necessary clearance was obtained,” Mr Madhu said.

The BMRC held four rounds of talks with the CMH Road Traders and Establishments Association to convince them of the urgency to begin work. The traders had in a day-long bandh in December protested the road-widening, forcing the BMRC to postpone the work. However, no private private property would be touched.

Demolition
Mr Madhu said demolition of the first public property (Old Police Quarters) on Old Madras Road in Ulsoor will begin after January 15.

“Three families are residing in each block. We have identified contractors for demolition,” he added.
To assure the public and allay their fears, private property will be demolished at a later stage. BMRC will begin aquisition and demolition of private buildings on a first-handover basis, that is expected to begin by the January end.

HIGHLIGHTS
