Yuva Morcha sets Jan 20 as deadline for road repair
DH News Service,Madikeri:
The BJP district Yuva Morcha has set January 20 as the deadline to fill the potholes on the damaged roads. If the deadline is not met, the heavy vehicles will be stopped from entering the district border

The BJP district Yuva Morcha has set January 20 as the deadline to fill the potholes on the damaged roads. If the deadline is not met, the heavy vehicles will be stopped from entering the district border, warned BJP district Yuva Morcha unit president Rajeev Bopaiah and vice-president P D Ponnappa.
Speaking at a press meet, they said that temporary measure of filling the potholes must be taken up in all the important roads in the district and later the roads must be upgraded.
The roads in Kodagu have the capacity to withstand the vehicles weighing upto 10 tonnes. However, vehicles weighing upto 35-40 tonnes move on the roads and thus damage the roads.  In this backdrop, they demanded the district administration to atleast take up the work of filling potholes.
The Kushalnagar-Sampaje, Madikeri-Virajpete and Hunsur-Makutta roads are damaged beyond imagination.
Though the coalition government in the State had sanctioned the funds  for filling the potholes, the officials concerned are not providing any information regarding the same. This has created confusion among the public. As per the BJP’s request, the concerned department must immediately undertake the work of filling potholes, he said.
They said: “If the deadline is not met, the Yuva Morcha members will be asked to stop the vehicles and the police will be requested to register a case. However, he clarified that the light vehicles will not be stopped on any account.”
End  powercut:
As examinations for the school and college students is approaching, he requested Chescom officials not to execute power cuts in the evenings. Mr Bopaiah said that as Virajpete former MLA H D Basavaraju took autocratic decisions, there is a possibility of him losing the party ticket even this time around.
“In BJP, no person is considered above the party. As Mr Basavaraju considered himself above the party and took autocratic decisions, he has less chances of getting a party ticket,” Mr Bopaiah added.
He added that there is no difference of opinion in the party. The local committees of the Morch have demanded that in Virajpet constituency, a localite must be given the ticket.
But the members will respect any decision taken by the party leaders, he explained.  BJP district Yuva Morcha general secretary Balachandra Kalagi was present.
