The rampage by the wild elephants has increased in Baale Gram Panchayat jurisdiction in the taluk, causing much problems, villagers complained. In Hennangi, Bellangi and Hasooru villages in the gram panchayat, wild elephants come in herds and damage arecanut and banana plantations. A herd of elephant which entered the fields belonging to Dharmaraj in Hasoor village on Monday, destroyed eight arecanut and two coconut plants. The trumpeting of elephants was quite loud, they said. Though the Forest department was informed about the same, there has been no response. They demanded that the department must solve the problem as soon as possible.
