A married woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Her parents have alleged that her husband has murdered her for dowry.
Deceased Vimala (23) was married to Ravikumar, of Thumbakere village of Mandya taluk, six years ago. She is survived by two children. Vimala, daughter of Thimmachar, was a native of Bangalore Industrial Area. Thimmachar has lodged a complaint with the police against Ravikumar and his parents.
Although he had given dowry during the marriage, Ravikumar had been harassing his wife to bring more money to rent a house in Mandya, Thimmachar has stated in his complaint. He also charged that Ravikumar has murdered and later hanged her.
Additional SP Krishnam Raju said that the accused is absconding, while his parents have been taken to custody. A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused. Mandya Rural Police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating.
RTO inspector trapped
Nagamangala RTO Inspector Jameel Ahmed was trapped by the Lokayukta while he was allegedly receiving bribe to assess the value of petrol that was being sold in the black market.
Jameel who was previously serving in Belgaum had been deputed to Nagamnagala sub division.
He was caught red-handed when he was taking money to assess the value of the petrol that the Food and Civil Supplies department had seized that was being sold in the black market.
Lokayukta senior officials visited the spot.
A case has been registered in this regard.
