Hindi Date-Line Flexible
New Delhi, Jan 8.
The controversy over the language issue is on the way to be solved, as the date-line of 1965 fixed in the Constitution for the change-over from English to Hindi as the official language of the Union is not likely to be adhered to rigidly.
A phased programme for complete switch-over to Hindi from English at the Union level and to regional languages at the state-level is expected to be formulated in consultation with the non-Hindi speaking states.

C N Annadurai and 10 other DMK leaders, were this afternoon charge-sheeted before a city magistrate for defiance of the police ban on processions, demonstrations and meetings in the city on January 3.

Priest-Turned MLA In Trouble
Hubli, Jan 8.
A Catholic priest who tried to combine his spiritual duties with political ambitions and won at the hustlings has landed himself in trouble with the church.
The priest, Father Jacob of Tumarikop Parish in Dharwad district, won from Kalaghatgi as an Independent defying his superiors’ directive not to contest.
Fr Jacob is now confronted with the dilemma of having to choose between priesthood and his seat.
