‘Pattabhisheka illegal’
Office-bearers of the Karnataka Pradesh Arya Idigara Sangha have alleged that the January 22 Pattabhisheka of Sri Atmananda Saraswathi Swamiji of Sri Ramakshetra, as the religious head of Arya-Idiga community is illegal. The ‘self-styled’ seer has organised the function at Nithyanandanagar, Dharmasthala, on his own. “Sangha members will not attend it,” the Sangha office-bearers said at a press conference in Bangalore on Tuesday. Karnataka Rajya Arya Idigara Sangha vice president JP Narayanswamy said the samiti was constituted with an intention to choose a person as religious head of the Arya-Idiga community last year. The names of Sri Atmananda Saraswati Swamiji of Sri Ramakshetra, and Idiga Maraiah Swamiji were proposed for the Gurupeetha, but before the Samithi and Sangh members could decide on the final name, Atmananda Swamiji declared himself as the head of the Gurupeetha and has organised a function.
