There were no funny incidents to boast at the release of senior IPS officer Dr D V Guruprasad’s collection of essays on humour in uniform. Instead, there were plenty of tense moments at the release of his book, ‘The Funny Side of Police’.
Tension began for Guruprasad with DGP K R Srinivasan not arriving at the Press Club on time to release the book. He was scheduled to arrive at 11 am, but he could not make it until 11:30 am as he was in a meeting to discuss the naxal encounter case.
By the time the DGP arrived, Guruprasad had made a good number of calls to his boss’ office. A majority of the humour essays were written by Guruprasad when he held key posts such as ADGP, KSRP and ADGP, Intelligence. Now, he is ADGP, Recruitments.
Media bombardment
After releasing the book, Mr Srinivasan tried to leave, but could not do so as the media persons were bombarding him with queries on encounter with Naxals and terror investigations.
