Toyota mite for school kids
Toyota Kirloskar Motor distributed school bags and books to 3,000 schoolchildren in Bidadi, in Ramanagaram taluk, on Tuesday. The firm is distributing two lakh note books and 1,350 bags this year as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The programme, which was started in 2003, now covers 40 schools identified by the block education officer as ‘need-based’, where a majority of students come from economically underprivileged families.
DRDO award for scientist
M R Kesheorey, senior scientist of Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Bangalore, received the DRDO ‘Scientist of the Year’ award 2006 from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Mr Kesheorey has made a significant contribution in successfully developing and fielding several versions of the speech secrecy equipment.
State scientist gets award
Dr K D Nayak, Director of Advanced Numerical Research and Analysis Group (ANURAG), Hyderabad has been honoured with Scientist of the Year Award-2006, for his significant contribution to indigenous development of application of integrated circuits (ASIC), for his contribution to the LCA program. Dr Nayak is from Karnataka.
Ex-BU professor for NY meet
Bangalore University’s retired Hindi professor T G Prabhashankar has been selected by the Prime Minister for attending the eighth ‘Vishwa Hindi Sammelan’ as the representative of government of India.The conference will be held in New York from July 13 to 15.
BMTC renames bus stop
The BMTC has renamed its Kumarapark East Bus Stop as Gandhi Bhavan Bus Stop, states a BMTC release.
