‘Ferocious BSY’
Bangalore, dhns: A wordy duel took place between Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Congress leader Siddaramaiah in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday following a remark by Kumaraswamy that had he would have become the chief minister if he had patience like Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
Taking strong exception to CM’s remark, Siddaramaiah called for a debate on the circumstances which led to severing of his ties with the JD (S) and joining hands with the Congress.
During the Chief Minister’s reply to the flood relief works, some Opposition leaders including Siddaramaiah took a dig at Yediyurappa for shedding his “ferocious nature” after becoming deputy chief minister and expressed doubt whether Kumaraswamy would hand over the baton of power to Yediyurappa or not.
‘Huli and ili’
Senior Congress Leader Mallikarjun Kharge said while Yediyurappa was like a “huli”(tiger) when he was in the opposition, today he has been reduced to a “ili”(rat).
To this Kumaraswamy quipped that the very prospect of Yediyurappa becoming chief minister has made him to conduct himself in a “dignified way”.
When Ramesh Kumar suggested Kumaraswamy as well as his elder brother H D Revanna to seek the advice of JD(S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda before committing themselves to hand over power, Kumaraswamy retorted: “Had I listened to my father’s words, Dharam Singh would have continued in this chair”.
Interruption
Frequent “interruption” to Chief Minister’s reply made Assembly Speaker Krishna to lose his cool more than once in the House.
During Chief Minister’s reply, many Opposition members tried to seek clarifications. When too many clarifications were sought, some ruling party members were irritated and they tried to go to Kumaraswamy’s rescue. This led to unruly scenes in the House.
