Bus pass fare hike is more than tuition fees, says SFI
DH News Service, Gulbarga:
The SFI said it would launch an agitation across the state if the authorities failed to withdraw the decision to hike students' bus pass fare.

The Transport Department should withdraw the decision with regard to students’ bus pass fare hike, before July first week, said SFI State Unit Vice-President Vijayakumara Doddamani.
If the authority concerned fails to do so,  an agitation will be staged across the state and transport minister will be gheraoed, he added.
Speaking to reporters here on saturday, he said bus pass fare hike is more than academic fees in schools and colleges.   Moreover, unnecessary conditions have been imposed for getting the pass, he added.
He even criticised the authority concerned by saying that bus passes are being given to persons who have ration cards, but on the other hand the government has banned giving ration cards to people which is ridiculous, he added.
The government is taking fees from students for various purposes. Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had announced in the budget that Rs 135 crore had been kept for  the concession of fees, what has happened to ‘the money’, he questioned.
There is no point in increasing the bus pass fare, when the petroleum products’ price has come down. There is a need to eradicate corruption and unnecessary expenses in the department, inorder to take the State Transport Department towards progress, he said.
Agitation
The move of conducting CET for getting admission to post graduation courses has spoiled the concept of Universities, moreover  poor and middle class students will be deprived of  higher education, he said.
BJP plan
The system has been implemented in Rajastan and Gujrat, BJP is trying to implement the same system even in Karnataka which would become hindrance to poor students for getting higher education, he said. The government should give up it, otherwise the agitation will be intensified, he warned. In order to understand the problems of students, 1,0000 hostels’ survey will be conducted on July. ‘Zilla Panchayat Chalo’ and indefinite dharna will be staged on August last week, he said.
He demanded the government to form anti-donation commmittes across the state, ensuring that students’ representatives will be part of such committees.  He even urged the government to cancel the approval of schools who take donation by visiting such schools under the leadership of deputy commissioner. SFI District Unit President Sharanappa Saidapura, District Secretary Sunila Manpade and others were present in the press conference.
