Your dream of owning a house or a plot will soon come true, if the Bangalore Development Authority master plan 2015 is to be believed.
The plan proposes to take up a mega layout and housing project under which 27,760 sites and 1,44,849 housing units will be constructed. Not only budget houses but also houses for middle-income and higher-income groups will be built.
“A detailed plan in this regard will be presented to the government in a fortnight’s time for its approval,” BDA Commissioner Shankarlinge Gowda told reporters here.
The housing projects will come up at the Eastern and Western sectors of the City, which will make it on par with the developed Southern and Northern sectors.
On the Eastern sector -- between Varthur Road to Sarjapur Road to Hosur Road -- which comprises a total of 5,700 acres, BDA will develop 11,560 sites and 96,566 housing units. Of these, 31,190 will be low-income group houses, while 44,120 and 22,810 units will be for middle-income and high-income groups respectively.
These areas have proximity to IT parks and job centres, and having housing units in these areas will result in reduced commute time as they are close to work areas, said the BDA Commissioner.
Western sector
Similarly, on the Western sector -- between Mysore Road to Magadi Road, along BMICAPA -- which has a total area of 4322.50 acres, BDA will develop a total of 16,200 sites and build 48,283 housing units of which 18,095 will be for low-income groups while 23,060 and 11,405 units will be developed for middle income and low-income groups respectively.
Here, a total of 1025 acres will be allotted for IT and related activities, which is expected to generate about 2 lakh jobs, he said.
Mr Gowda said this sector had good sources of water along with high groundwater table. Good drainage and deep valleys will ensure that there is no flooding. Apart from these, it is also close to the State highway and has a rail link to Mysore.
