With an aim to provide global quality education facilities for Indian students, UAE based higher education service provider Sudhir Gopi holdings, in association with Saint Louis University, Philippines, has launched the Saint Louis University International College of Medicine (SLUICM) at Baguio city, Philippines.

The launch of Saint Louis university College of Medicine heralds a new era for the Indian student community opting to pursue their medical studies in China and such other countries because of cost factors, he said.
The total number of seats will be 200. The college offers affordable education and the tuition fee would be around Rs 15 lakh for the four-year programme, which follows US curriculum for medical education.
SLU, a degree granting university of Doctor of Medicine (MD), duly recognised by the government of Philippines, is also included in the listing of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and International Medical Education Directory (IMED).
Admission
SLUICM, is set to start its first batch from September this year, with a four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme. Student registration, curriculum, syllabus, examinations, evaluations, and certifications would be directly conducted by the Saint Louis University. Any student having passed a plus two or equivalent or Pre-university qualification from a recognised board or university with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology with minimum of 50 per cent marks will be eligible for admission. He or she should also pass the ‘A’ level examination in the above subjects. B Sc graduates can also apply for the course.
However, students who intend to practice medicine in India should obtain eligibility certificate from the Medical Council of India, before getting admitted for the programme, he said. Gopi said the MD degree awarded by the Saint Louis University was recognised worldwide.

Facilities
The college is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including an exhaustive library and other modern communication facilities. Teaching hospitals of the college, Hospital of the Sacred Heart inside the campus, and Baguio General and Medical Centre will provide the student good clinical training opportunities.
The college also has modern independent hostels for male and female students. The college canteen will serve Indian and continental cuisines. The administration of the college and the hostels is being looked after by the Congregation of Apostolic Carmel , who are one among the pioneers of women education in India.
