Footpaths cleared
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike launched a special drive on Thursday to clear footpath encroachments at OTC Road in Gandhinagar Division.

A release from BBMP states, the encroachments on OTC Road at ward no 29 were removed as shops and business establishments had obstructed movement of pedestrians by hoarding their wares on footpaths. In all 25 shops were cleared.

The encroachment drive was led by Prakash Kumar from BBMP assisted by jurisdictional police.    Forty gangmen and two trucks were used in the operation.

There was no resistance from the footpath shopowners as the BBMP had come fully prepared for the demolition drive. Hence the whole operation went off peacefully and now untoward incidents were reported.
