Excise officials today disclosed that almost 23.200 litres of arrack has been seized from various parts of the taluk after the state wide ban on illicit liqiuor.
Channakere, Neerugunda, Neerugundapalya, Vitalapura, Kondajji cross, Hulikal, Tandaga and K Mavinahalli were among the places where nearly 234 packets of arrack was seized by the officials. It has also been  reported that some of the bars in the city are collecting empty liquior bottles and refilling them with alchohol and selling them. Previously, arrack contractorshelped controll the Indian made liquior(IML) market to protect their interests along with 4 chief, 30 private personell and department officials. However with a state wide ban, the question that arises is the probability of a single chief and a few personell controlling the entire market.
Public support has therefore beccome necessary to control this menace. Excise department officials have requested that the  people call up the control room at 0816-2272927, should they see this illegal activity around them.
