V Ramesh and Pavan Gangadhar, senior leaders of the Bharatiya Students Federation announced that the organisation would conduct ‘Vidhanasoudha Chalo’to protest against the hike in bus pass fare.
The organisation demanded that the hike in the bus pass fare that was levied for this academic year should be reduced immiediately and the old price should be reinforced.
They also asked that the bus pass limit be extended from 40 km to 80 km and free passes should be issued to students with annual income below Rs 17 thousand for their entire college term i.e. from SSLC to graduation.
The SFI representatives had already met with transport Minister on the 9th of July to discuss these demands. “However the government did not agree to our demands. The students are still burdened by the additional expenditure’ said the agiatated students. “It is therefore that we have decided to stage Vidhana Soudha Chalo on July 13th” said Ramesh.
