The projects for the 6-lane road from Bangalore to Hosakote and 4-lane road from Krishnarajapura to Nangali will be started from September onwards, informed Union Minister of State for Land Transport and Highways K H Muniyappa.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, he said the Government had signed a tender contract with a private company with regards to these road projects. All the initial formalities had been completed and the project was supposed to start. It is estimated that the projects would be completed within 24-26 months, he added.
He said, once the National Highway 4 would be expanded, there would be an increase in the number of industries coming to Kolar. Entrepreneurs and industrialists from Delhi and Mumbai are expected in Kolar. Already several companies had contacted him in this regard, he informed.
Industries
It is being discussed to facilitate these industrialists who arrive from different parts of the country, in establishing units in silk, food processing and export of vegetable produce. This is being discussed with District In-charge Minister Alanguru Shrinivas and with the the help of Union and State governments, these industries would be estatlished in Kolar, the minister stated.
A project has been prepared to develop agriculture, horticulture and water conservation in the district, with the help of the Japan Bank of International Co-operation Institute. The union minister related to this project had contacted the State government in this regard. This project would be implemented once the State government guarantteed the proposal, Mr Muniyappa said.
The farmers of the district should also grow crops in accordance to the availability of water in the district and also the crops which are in demand in the market. It was upto them to utilise the market forces and needs of the consumers and grow crops which were profitable to them, Mr Muniyappa advised.
Broadguage
He said, the Kolar-Chickballapur broadguage conversion work was going on in full speed. If connectivity was provided from Shrinivaspura to Chittoor, then, direct network with other parts of the country will be possible. The farmers’ agricultural produce can also be exported through this network. Discussions are on with the Union Railway Minister in this regard, the minister added.
He said, a global tender will be called shortly, for the revival of the Kolar gold mines. The local labour organisations can also take part in this.
As per the tender rules, opportunities will be provided to them also, he said and added that, after this, the Kolar gold mines would be revived.
