Hardwork always wins! He may be just a newspaper boy. But his courage, grit and determination has secured him a high place. He has proved that there is no limit for people who are determined to excel inspite of hindrances like poverty.
Vasudev Acharya, who supplies Prajavani newspaper in Moodigere has excelled in his degree examination by passing with 82 per cent marks.
Son of late Krishnacharya and Kalamma, he stays with his brother Paramesh. Though he passed SSLC examination with 41 per cent, he had to discontinue his education for three years owing to financial constraints. Later, he completed PUC in arts stream and passed with 66 per cent marks.
With the moral support of his elder brother he joined DSBG Government First Grade College. Since then, there was no looking back. He continued his studies and social work with the help of several organisations and supplying newspapers daily. He secured 70 per cent in the first year BA. In the same year, he was selected as the cultural ambassador of Kuvempu University. In the second year degree, he secured 75 per cent marks. In the same year, he was conferred with State-level Jnanashri award by the Jnana Mandara Academy, Bangalore.
Mr Acharya is not only good in studies but also has excelled in extra-curricular activities. He won the first place in solo play at Sahyadri Utsava in 2006-07. In South-India level Yuvajana Mela held at Madhurai, he won the silver medal. He has also participated in the inter-state NSS camp. During the holidays, he not only supplies newspaper but also mastered over the skill of car painting. In spite of the financial hindrances, he has a dream to pursue his higher studies. He is planning to attempt BEd entrance examination along with continuing his social service activities by joining hands with various organisations.
