Queen walks out of photo shoot
Queen Elizabeth II walked out of a recent photo shoot when renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz asked her to take off her crown, IANS reports from London.
The Queen, who was posing for a series of official photos at her Buckingham Palace home to mark her state visit to the US earlier this year, was not amused when she was told by the photographer that she looked too dressed up for the occasion.
Annie had asked her to wear ‘Order of the Garter’ robes and a diamond tiara but changed her mind during the session saying: “I think it will look better without the crown. Less dressy. The garment robe is so... extraordinary.” The Queen fumed: “Less dressy? What do you think this is?”
She then stormed out of the room, saying: “I’m not changing anything. I’ve had enough of dressing like this, thank you very much.”
Kalam chosen for Charles II Medal
President A P J Abdul Kalam has been chosen for the prestigious British award — King Charles II Medal — in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to scientific advances in India, PTI reports from London.
Kalam is only the second head of State after Japanese Emperor Akihito to be honoured with the award given by the Royal Society.
“President Kalam has led India at a time when science and technology investment in the country has radically increased,” said Martin Rees, President of the Royal Society.
“He (Kalam) has played a major part in preparing a road map for transforming India from developing status into a developed nation,” Rees said.
Emma Watson wants to bare all
Harry Potter star Emma Watson has plans to bare it all just like co-star Daniel Radcliffe. The 17-year-old said she giggled throughout Radcliffe’s naked scenes in a London stage show. She says: “I’d like to think I would (do that). Not that I want to get naked, but I hope something like that will come along.”
