D’Souza notches twin wins
Rovin D’Souza, who lost to Balaji Reddy in his opening match on Wednesday, notched up twin wins on the second day of the selection camp for the World U-21 Snooker championship at the KSBA on Thursday.

After defeating J Pranit of Tamil Nadu 4-2, Maharashtra’s D’Souza scored a thril-ling 4-3 win over Himanshu Arora later in the day.

Results:
Group A: Shahbaz Adil Khan (WB) bt Himanshu Arora (Raj) 4-0 (75-10, 74-32, 57-33, 58-50); Rovin D’Souza (Mah) bt J Pranit (TN) 4-2 (55-26, 19-64, 29-63, 57-45, 65-13, 67-7); Rovin D’Souza bt Himanshu Arora 4-3 (49-77, 45-30, 84-23, 38-52, 47-55, 72-21, 74-23).

Group B: Ajay Bhushan (Kar) bt Hasan Badami (Mah) 4-1 (78-0, 66-24, 48-61, 45-23, 66-43); Ashish Kumar (AP) bt Hasan Badami 4-3 (58-30, 8-52, 29-66, 60-51, 54-61, 51-20, 68-43); Pushpender Singh (Del) bt Amir Hussain (WB) 4-3 (37-71, 75-17, 72-66, 51-20, 35-71, 15-71, 78-27).

UK school team to tour City
The West Buckland School, a UK-based boarding school, will tour South India to play a series of cricket matches against local sides in the U-17 category. The team will play three matches in Bangalore (July 15, 17 and 18) and one in Mysore ( July 20) before winding up their tour with two matches in Chennai (July 22, 23).

‘C’ Div hockey from Monday
The Karnataka State Hockey Association (KSHA) will conduct the ‘C’ Division league at the KSHA stadium from July 16 (Monday).

The forty teams in the fray are divided into eight groups of five teams each. The group winners will advance to the next stage and the top teams from the two groups will battle for the title.

State-level v’ball from July 19
Sree Rama Vidyalaya will conduct the 13th State-level volleyball tournament for higher primary boys and girls on July 19 and 20 at the school premises in Jayanagar.

Inter-school chess meet from July 21

Boxing tourney from July 29
The Eastwood High School will conduct the all-India inter-ICSE/ CBSE school sub-junior boxing championship from July 29 to August 2 at their school premises. Boxers born on or after January 1, 1992 are eligible to participate.
