As expected, the KRS dam, by and large, reached its maximum level on Thursday. According to sources, the water level stood at 124 feet on Thursday evening against its maximum level of 124.8 feet. Approximately, 30,000 cucecs of water is being released from the dam, a senior officer told Deccan Herald.

At present, the inflow is 47,501 cusecs. Depending on the inflow level, a decision will be taken on the quantum of water to be released, sources said.

Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Prasad said: “From 6 pm, we have increased the outflow rate to 20,000 cucecs and it may reach up to 40,000 in the night, depending upon the inflow.”

Meanwhile, the district authorities have cautioned the people residing in low-lying areas.
