The Konkani Kutam Award-2007 will be conferred on Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Eric Alexander Ozario who is also a singer, music composer and full time cultural activist.
Speaking at a press meet here on Friday, Award Committee chief Titus Noronha said the award will be presented at a programme to be organised at Sandesha Pratishthana, Bajjodi on July 20.
The award was constituted in 2002 to recognise stalwarts who contributed to Konkani literature and culture and the sixth award is being conferred on Mr Ozario. The award will comprise a citation, memento and cash award of Rs 50,000.
Mr Ozario has composed for more than 800 songs and has been the co-founder of Mandd Sobhann and Kalaangann and has won many awards and honours including the Senior Artiste Fellowship conferred by the Government of India and Karnataka State award. Konkani Kutam Co-ordinator Richard Moras and Award Committee member Vithori Karkala were present.
