In a barbaric incident, a man killed a woman by slitting her throat at Hegganaguli in Uli village of Bantwal taluk in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Srimathi (23). The accused is Vittala Moolya, a native of Neralakatte. It is said that the accused and Srimathi had an affair for the past few months. He was enraged as Srimathi got a proposal for marriage recently.

Her body was found 25 metre from her house. The accused is absconding. A case has been registered.

Kid killed in mishap

A school going kid travelling in an autorickshaw was killed on the spot when the auto collided against another auto at Padil near Puttur on Sunday.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Jayalakshmi (10). She was studying in Mura school. She was bound to Puttur from Krishnanagara along with her parents when the mishap occurred. The injured are Ramesh Gowda, Devi and Ganesh. A case has been registered.
