In a horrendous incident, a student of class three was chained to his chair in the classroom, to teach him discipline.
Arvind Rao, said to be a rebellious student, had run away from school a couple of times. After beatings and the act of putting chilli powder in his eyes and mouth did not work, the school authorities decided to chain him to the stool and put his feet in shackles.
“I was chained the whole day and even went to the toilet in shackles,” he told the police. He has reportedly been chained for three weeks. The police registered a case against the school, but the school director defended his action.
The police arrested three teachers and handed over the child to his parents.
